Sine İçli
Born in Istanbul and trained in London, Sine Icli is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative journey weaves through the realms of ceramics, painting and photography. After completing her MA Fine Art at Middlesex University, she established her studio in London, where she spent nine years honing her work. Now back in her hometown of Istanbul, Sine's work delves into the intricacies of emotional and psychological journeys, drawing inspiration from themes of memory, dreams, and mythologies.
Working with clay serves as a form of alchemy for her, allowing the transformation of these abstract ideas into tangible manifestations that resonate within the body and mind. Creating and feeding from mythological women figures, traveling between dots spread across our universe with a profound connection to nature and the land, her art explores the eternal struggle of revealing and hiding, evoking the timeless ritual of initiation.
Sine's artistic exploration spans across various mediums, but it is her genuine attachment to clay that remains a constant in her practice. Grounding herself in the sensory depth of clay, she finds solace and reflection in its malleability. Through her experimentation with multimedia platforms, she intricately examines textures and forms, infusing her work with a tactile richness.
