OG Gallery is pleased to announce the publication of Ahmet Civelek’s first book, Slippage.

Conceived as a visual and conceptual extension of the artist’s recent body of work, Slippage brings together field notes, essays, and a long-form conversation that traces Civelek’s engagement with yağlı güreş (oil wrestling).

The book, which includes a text by Michael Bank Christoffersen and an interview with Dave Harper, uses oil wrestling as a framework to examine masculinity, failure, and identity, approaching physical struggle as a space where vulnerability, tradition, and cultural meaning intersect.

Developed through encounters in wrestling fields across Turkey, the publication moves between observation and reflection, bringing together text and image around the body, performance, and lived experience. Rather than treating wrestling purely as a sport, Civelek considers it as a site where personal and collective narratives take shape.

Slippage is presented in conjunction with Civelek’s ongoing practice, extending his research into a published format.
